Formerly a Salvation Army Officer, John Townsend has been working with people from all social backgrounds for more than 20 years. He was responsible for the establishment of 2CHY-FM, Australia’s first youth broadcasting station.
His work among young people was recognised by Australian Jaycees in 1978 with the presentation of an “Outstanding Young Australian Award”.
His clients include some of Australia’s largest companies and many State and Commonwealth Government Departments.
Over the past 18 years John has presented more than 200 presentations to Chief Executive Officers in Australia and the UK through an organisation called The Executive Connection. John has been the recipient of the highest awards that TEC bestows on its Resource Speakers, including Speaker of the Year.
His academic background includes a Bachelor of Social Science Degree, with a major in psychology, from the University of New England, Armidale. Part of this degree involved a special reading course in neuroscience under the supervision of Professor Lesley Rogers, an internationally respected neuroscientist.
John Townsend believes that people are the greatest asset of any organisation and that success and profitability depends on how well they are engaged and managed. All of his seminars are “people focused” and to this end he has developed a trilogy of workshops and seminars relating to people. The trilogy includes:
Effectively Managing and Motivating People
Effectively Finding Good People and
Effectively Retaining Good People.
John also believes that stress-tough people cope better with the challenges of daily life. The enormous success of his “Get Tough With Stress” programme is due to its ability to provide people with practical down-to-earth skills that develop stress toughness and enhance their ability to work under pressure.
In recent years John Townsend has built his own online e-learning system which is used by many organisations to provide employees with high quality learning experiences at the point of need. John calls his online courses “learning snacks” because they often take less than an hour to complete and provide staff with new skills and motivation.
Townsend International provides web design services which are highly optimised for search engines and smartphones.
